Shadow Box Supply List (HALF-DAY CLASS) Susan’s mitering technique and built-in sashing for attic windows will make this block much easier than traditional piecing, will produce beautiful results, and will take any fear out of mitered corners. This technique may then be applied to any project involving mitered corners or borders. No fabric required. Fabric kit is required and may be purchased in class for less than $10.
Fabric kit to be purchased in class (kit contains main fabric, 2 shadow fabrics, sashing, freezer paper) Neutral threads for piecing IF BRINGING OWN MACHINE: Sewing machine, slotted needle plate (not single hole) (not necessary for Featherweight machines), fresh needles, bobbin, bed extension is very desireable, open toe foot (optional but VERY desireable) Some shows provide machines. Check with class organizer to determine if one will be available or if your own is needed. Acrylic ruler 6" square or 1"x 6" Small scissors for clipping threads Small bag for scraps/threads Pins Seam ripper Pencil for note taking Post-it Notes at least 3" wide Masking tape or painter's tape Irons and ironing boards will be needed, though not every student needs his/her own.
