Shadow Box Supply List

This version of the traditional attic windows gives the illusion of depth and features one wonderful fabric with only four supporting fabrics. Those big prints or favorite novelty fabrics will shine in this piece. Mitered seams can be daunting, but not with Susan’s tricks... you’ll master them with this quilt. Three sizes are included in the instructions.

Fabric suggestions: To make the sashing really "pop", choose a very light or dark fabric with relation to the other fabrics. To get a strong 3-D effect, make sure the shadows don't match the main fabric too closely or the shadows will "fall into" the main fabric and won't be very noticeable. Good choices for main fabrics are big prints, interesting motifs, and/or wonderful batiks.

Fabrics: (based on width of 40” - 44”) A long quarter yard of fabric measures 9” by 40”-44”. A fat quarter measures 18” by 20”-22”.

Please note that more MAIN fabric will be needed if fabric is directional or you wish to cut out certain motifs!
