Show Your Colors Supply List

Show some patriotism with this colorful flag quilt. Fifty prairie points are pieced into the flag which is surrounded by piping and a border. If piping and prairie point stitching are eliminated, project is suitable for beginners.
Instructions feature the following:: Making, embellishing and piecing with prairie points, making and piecing with piping, full-size quilting templates

Fabrics based on width of 40” - 44”. A long quarter yard measures 9” by 40”-44”. A fat quarter measures 18” by 20”-22”.
  • Pieces Be With You "Show Your Colors" pattern
  • Red: ½ yd
  • White: ½ yd
  • Blue: 1/4 yd (long or fat quarter)
  • Yellow for piping: 1/4 yd (optional)
  • Border & binding: ½ yd
  • Tear-away stabilizer or starched muslin for foundation: 10” x 14” piece (Must not melt or disintegrate when ironed)
  • 1 mm drapery cording for piping: 3 yds (May be purchased in class for 75 cents.)
  • Backing: 3/4 yd (only for 2-day class)
  • Batting: 35” x 24” piece (only for 2-day class)
  • Safety pins for basting (only for 2-day class)
  • Decorative thread for quilting. I suggest Sulky 12 wt. cotton or YLI Jeans Stitch. (only for 2-day class)
  • Regular weight (50/3 or 60/2) sewing thread to match decorative quilting thread or fabric it is stitched on... to be used in the bobbin. (only for 2-day class)
  • Decorative thread for embellishing prairie points (I used YLI Jeans Stitch)
  • Needles to accommodate decorative thread for prairie points (I used 90/14 topstitch)
  • Thread for piecing and thread to MATCH piping fabric
  • Sewing machine, fresh needles, bobbin
  • Rotary cutter, cutting mat, and acrylic rulers
  • Thin pencil or marker that will show on foundation
Irons and ironing boards will be needed, though not every student needs his/her own.

Please cut fabrics prior to class (if possible) in order to learn more during class!
