This pattern is designed for any level quilter who wants or needs a quick project! I enjoyed making several at once as gifts for special teachers.
Instructions feature the following:
- Full-size applique patterns
- Instructions for blanket stitching or zig-zag applique by machine
- Quilting instructions
- AND binding with rick-rack instructions you’ll want to use on other projects
Supply List
- ½ yd background, backing and binding
- 1 3/4” X 5” strips of various fabrics for border (I used 7 different fabrics.)
- 5” square for apple
- 3” square for leaves
- 2” X 1” piece for stem
- thread for piecing border, attaching binding, and quilting around motifs
- thread for blanket stitch or zig-zag applique and quilting (I recommend Cotty by Pfaff and Jeans Stitch by YLI Corp. because they are heavier threads and show up well. Supplier listed inside. Topstitch thread would also work well.)
- 14” square of batting
- spray starch
- 90/14 topstitch needles for your machine (if you use the above mentioned threads)
- 1 ½ yds rick-rack
- fusible web (9” X 10”)
- freezer paper
- scissors
- optional: rotary cutting equipment
- sewing machine with blanket stitch OR zig-zag
